Why Passionate People Excel

Some people believe talents makes someone to be great. But I discovered few years back that even when there is talent, there’s no greatness without a passion. If there’s someone I’m convinced represents a bunch of talents, it is the man called Albert Einstein. But surprise kept me mute the day I came across a quote where Albert said, “I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious.”

WHY PASSIONATE PEOPLE EXCEL

Passion is greater than talents. Passion is energy. Zeal. Intensity. Fire. Passion is a spirit that sets winner apart from losers. That’s why Field Marshal Ferdinand Foch says, “The most powerful weapon on earth is the human soul on fire.” And  just like John Wesley puts it, “When you set yourself on fire, people love to come and see you burn.” In other words, passion creates attraction. Passion makes your work, ministry, and life attractive. With passion you can excel in whatever you do.

3 Rules to remember about passion that can make you excel in whatever you do…

Rule 1: Passion must be Right. Paul, the apostle talking to the church of Galatians made it clear that passion can be right and also be wrong. It can be used for both good and bad. Then he said, “But it is good to be passionate in a good thing…” (Galatians 4:17-18). As important as passion is, it must only be used for good things.

If passion drives you, let reason hold the reins

– Benjamin Franklin

Rule 2: Passion must be Constant. It must be employed always not in some occasions. Passionate people excel because they always remain passionate about what they do no matter the challenges. They are never bored with routines. They are always in the best state of mind enthusiastically doing whatever is going to glorify God. “…Be zealous in good things always…” (Galatians 4:18).

Rule 3: Passion must be Real. Passionate people don’t use passion to impress anyone. For them, passion is a lifestyle. And such people excel in whatever they do.

If you also want to excel in whatever you do, be passionately curious. But ensure that…

1. Your Passion is Right

2. Your Passion is Constant

3. Your Passion is Real

But it is good to be zealous in a good thing always, and not only when I am present with you

– Galatians 4:18
