LIFTING PEOPLE TO YOUR LEVEL OF COMFORT IN CHRIST

Posted on Posted in Personal Growth, Uncategorized
If God can use us to bring temporal relief to someone in distress or difficulties,we have made a great impact noticed by heaven. Yet, the same God can help us to lift them from the spot where they got stucked to our own level of comfort. The Bible says, what a wonderful God we have – He is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the source of every mercy, and the one who so wonderfully comforts and strengthens us in our hardships and trials. And why does he do this? So that when others are troubled, needing our sympathy and encouragement, we can pass unto them this same help and comfort God has given us ( see 2Corinthians 1:3-4TLB).

I wish to discuss briefly on these scriptures, in order for us to understand the necessity of lifting people who are down to our own level of comfort. The first point to consider here is, Jesus the Source of every Mercy. Whenever the word ‘mercy’ come to us, something must ring in our minds about undeserved pardon. We quickly understand that someone has got in return what he doesn’t deserve by right, and the giver of mercy is not under any obligation to do, but comes by virtue of compassion.

This is exactly what we received from Christ at salvation when we surrender our lives to Him. We are given mercy instead of condemnation. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit (Romans 8:1). The moment we are in Christ, no more condemnation, but we received mercy, pardon and liberty. meanwhile, the source of every mercy is Jesus. The one who came to save us from our deserved punishment and delivered us from the judgement of death sentence (see John 8:1-11).

What can we learn in this? It is that Jesus lifted us from condemnation to liberty through the power of mercy.

…the one who so wonderfully comforts and strengthens us in our hardships and trials.

Many hardships and trials we have been through in life would have crushed us and render our lives useless if not for Jesus who helped us. He healed our sicknesses (1Peter 2:24). He broke the curse of poverty in our lives (2Corinthians 8:9, Galatians 3:13). He gave us hope in our hopeless situations (John 14:1) and He empowered us in our weakness by the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-18). He even left us with His peace and absolute assurance (John 14:27-28). These are some of wonderful things Jesus did to comforts and strengthens us in our hardships and trials. They are products of the abundant life he came to give us (John 10;10b). If not for Christ, the devil who is a thief would have succeeded in his purpose to steal, kill and destroy our lives without any hope. But thanks be to God who gave us Jesus Christ!

Now, the question before us is: why does He do this?
