It was a cool morning but painful one for me and my sisters exactly seventeen years ago that my mother went to be with the Lord. She had battled with her sickness for many days before she finally left to rest. Today as we remember her, I like to share few amongst other life lessons that I learned about turning breakdown to breakthrough in your life.
1. BREAKDOWN IS NEVER THE END OF THE ROAD
When my mother died, we all broke down in tears. The thoughts of where and who will help us to achieve our dreams in life crowded our hearts. We all had a picture of wonderful future which seemed to have been destroyed.
We felt it was the end of the road. But we were wrong. It was not the end of the road. It was only a road bend that opened us up to the reality of our need of God. Are you going through any breakdown presently? Never see it as the end of the road but as a bend that will open you up to the reality of your need of God.
2. BREAKDOWN IS A CALL TO BREAKTHROUGH
Mum used to tell us before she died that life is a place of battle. She would always sound the alarm that only those who are ready to contend through prayers and power of God can win in life.
But all along the way we never gave any attention to such words until the reality dawned on us. When she died, the breakdown became our wake-up call to face the challenge of breaking through in life. As for you, anytime you experience breakdown, don’t let it break you down that you are unable to rise again. Let it be your wake-up call to face the task of reaching forth to breakthrough through the Grace of God.
3. BREAKDOWN IS YOUR MAKING OF BREAKTHROUGH STORIES
A whole book cannot contain the experience of our sufferings after our mother died. But today, we don’t need a book to talk about our sufferings but our breakthroughs. It was the breakdown experience that makes our breakthrough stories to be appreciated. Every great thing always emerge from painful and sometimes shameful experience. Few great stories can be found without breakdown experience. Success stories are mostly failure stories turned upside down. Breakdown turned to be God’s making of our breakthrough stories (Romans 8:28)
4. BREAKDOWN IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO KNOW GOD
Mum was a lover of God. She walked with God until she passed on. In fact, the major inheritance she passed to us was command to know, love, serve, obey and follow the Lord. The secret of breakdown to breakthrough she gave to us is Psalm 27:10. Please read it:
“Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.”
We are most grateful to God on Mum’s behalf. She prepared us ahead for a breakdown that happened May 1, 1998 and showed us the secret of turning it to breakthrough.
Meanwhile, I have a strong urge within me as I write this article that someone will stumble upon this post who needs to move from breakdown to breakthrough. I like to introduce you to the Lord of Psalm 27:10. He is Jesus and He’s ever willing to help you. He’s OUR TESTIMONY who turned our hopelessness to rejoicing. If you can surrender your life to Him, I want to assure you that He will lavish you with His love. He’s willing to turn your breakdown to breakthrough. Please stop and pray to him now:
Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead; I will be saved (Rom. 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me! In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
If you prayed this prayer for the first time, I would like to know. Please send an e –mail or share your testimony.
