The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. Life is about rendering service. It is about living to give, adding, providing joy and peace to human beings like us in order to make life worth living for them.
It is an art of offering ourselves to the well-being of others. That is why Mother Teresa said, “At the end of life we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received how much money we have made, how many great things we have done. We will be judged by “I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was naked and you clothed me. I was homeless, and you took me in.”
…But I am among you as he that serves – Luke 22:27
The purpose of our living is to serve God through humanity. Although serving others is demanding and costly but is the best way to live. You must have a servant-heart! Although, it should be the kind of heart everyone must have, but unfortunately it is not. But those who have this heart are those who have discovered the secret of greatness in life – which does not lie in what we can get from others but what we can give to help other people get what they need for successful living.
True Joy is in Giving not Receiving
This servant-heart that drives one to render service to others without any expectation of reward from them is worth having. You must have a servant heart if you want to live your best life. You are great when you have helped other people find solution to their problems and limitations in life. This is best achieved by giving a sacrifice of service.
There are many ways by which you can give your service to anyone who needs help. It depends on the situation and the needs of the person or the people around you. But you can always render act of service to the best of your ability as the occasion demands.
The true essence of living lies in our service to humanity
Ask God for a servant-heart and not just religious hypocritical heart that many people carry around. We’re not being true to ourselves when we say we are serving God but never bother about the joy, peace, goodness and success of the people we come across every day.
There is no best way to serve God without rendering sacrificial service to people we can see for the sake of God that we cannot see. We must be able to ask ourselves these questions every day that, how many lives have felt the love of God through me today?
God wants us to be channels by which the weak will receive strength, sick will receive healing, distressed to receive comfort, hopeless to receive hope, forgotten be remembered and the wounded be restored. This is the essence of life – serving the goodness and greatness of God to our generation. Such service – oriented lifestyle which grows out of a servant heart is what God demands from us.
Do you have this Heart?
