We got a discussion started last week on How to make Reading Your Habit. You can read the post here in case you missed it. Reading is important to the mind as eating is important to the body. But more important is that – Healthy reading is helpful to life change as healthy eating is helpful to body nourishment.

Reading Takes You to a Point of Vantage

Reading has great ad-VANTAGE. In other words, reading takes readers to a VANTAGE point. First of all, vantage point is a point of new discoveries – And new discovery drives change of lives. Discoveries rides on the spirit embedded in the reading of great books. The revealing of the unknown lies in the pages of those great books we often despise. If you want to be a discoverer – you have to be a reader.

Vantage Point Get Things into Perspective

Grayling once said, β€œTo read is to fly: it is to soar to a point of vantage which gives a view over wide terrains of history, human variety, ideas, shared experience and the fruits of many inquiries.” Vantage point is the frame of mind where we get things into perspective.

It is an angle where we can grab what we cannot ordinarily touch without reading. The vantage point through reading help readers to remove obstacles on their path to personal fulfillment.

Vantage Point Eliminates Personal Inadequacies

Thanks to books without which many people would not have been able to eliminate giants like fear, doubt, ignorance and weaknesses that would not allow them to rise in life. Also, reading takes away sense of personal unworthiness to contend for a life of impact, relevance and fulfillment.

Vantage Point of Mental Aliveness

You must be mentally alive to profit from life transforming ideas. Great ideas have come to some people who were unable to make anything out of them because they are mentally dead. There’s a unique way that reading helps our mental alertness. It is either we submit ourselves to reading or we choose a dormant life of ignorance.

No matter how busy you may be, don’t neglect the discipline of reading. Life change is possible when books become our best friends. Always read something that will give your life ad-VANTAGE over your limitations. Reading will take you to a point of vantage, get things into perspective for you, eliminate your personal inadequacies, and makes you to be mentally alive.
