Beloved, this is our hope. The risen Christ is our hope. It is the power behind our preaching, the substance of our message. It is the proof of our faith and the joyful hope for our friends, relatives, parents and beloved ones who have died in Christ that they have not perished. They will rise again and we shall rejoice together in heaven. Moreover, this is the gospel those who are lost in this world need.
George Washington Truett said, “There’s nothing as wonderful as a true conversion, as for man to be genuinely saved. We are hearing great deal these days about all manner of prescriptions for advancing Christianity. They are telling us much, these days, about “Socializing Christianity.” The greatest thing in the world is for the individual man to be saved by the Gospel, for such man to have a divine power to come into his life and turn him to God.”
For this reason, I want to challenge you. If you must take the lead to advance Christianity in this world to win the heart of sinners around you for Christ – you must preach only the Gospel of risen Christ.
The only One Gospel Must be Preached
We must stand by only one Gospel for the lost and hopeless world. The church will continue to diminish in her impact except we hold unto this only one Gospel.
The reason God separated us from the world and called us through His grace is to reveal Jesus in us so that we can proclaim Him among the sinners. The necessity is laid on us to preach Christ who alone can save the lives of sinners who are living around us and leading in our various cities and nations.
The only answer to the cry of this world is the Gospel of Christ. We must not present another method or alternative.
Hear what Paul said to the Galatians;
“But even if we, or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed” – Galatians 1:8-9.
This matter was so heavy in the heart of Paul that he had to repeat what he had said twice for emphasis sake. He was keenly convinced that the only hope for every one is the Gospel of the risen Christ.
It is only the commission that has the ever abiding promise of Christ.
“And he said to them, “Go into the entire world and preach the Gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
… And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen” – Mark 16:18, 20.
