Leadership is a big task. Most times, people easily talk leaders down because they feel being a leader is cheap. But the opposite is the truth. Leadership is costly. It requires the ability to make decisions in conditions of uncertainty. And leaders must be ready to bear the consequence of their decisions.
The fear of consequence of their decisions has made some leaders indecisive. Then, when a leader becomes indecisive, they also become ineffective. In fact, I have found out that at the bottom of great leadership lies decisive ability.
Decisions are Determinants
A leader is not greater than his/her decisive ability. Until decisions are made, leadership has not taken place. Decisions are determinants. The decision of every leader determines his gain or loss.
The decay of leadership is found in the graveyard of indecisiveness. At the same time, every moment a leader makes decision whether great or small, it will either elevate his leadership or demote it. But the truth is: decision is the womb of leadership. It is where the process that births great visionary accomplishments must begin.
Need to understand Strategies for Making Decisions in Conditions of Uncertainty
If decision making in leadership is non-negotiable, then leaders must understand strategies for making right decisions in conditions of uncertainty. But let me sound a word of caution here; these strategies I will be sharing are not some quick or easy steps of ‘how to.’
But they are strategies that will be drawn from thoughtful, revelation, experiential and insightful issues of life among great leaders who made great decisions in conditions of uncertainty.
By the time we are concluding the series, it will be explained better where the authority of a leader lies, how to initiate action and set the ball rolling for success in your leadership endeavours, the influence factor, the power to grow forward instead of just going forward and the need to pursue what can be rather than settling with what was and what is.
See you in understanding where the authority of a leader lies.
