One of the best things we can enjoy in life and which is always helpful to our growth is the good advice from a good friend. I met one of my best friends recently and we decided to have a lunch together. During the lunch, we started reviewing the effects of our leadership impact on people.
During our discussion, my friend made a very striking statement that touched my heart about how our lives affect people that God brings our way in life. He said there are two major things that people we have met will always remember about us – What we do to them and what we did not do.
I like you to think about this because what my friend said can go a long way to reshape our ways of dealing with people we have been privileged to know.
1. PEOPLE ALWAYS REMEMBER WHAT YOU DO
People may forget our feelings but they will not forget our actions. The good things we do, not the good feelings we have about people stays permanently in their memory forever. That’s why we need to remain careful about what we do to people. The rule is: Do good to everyone that will cross your path in life.
2. PEOPLE ALWAYS REMEMBER WHAT YOU DID NOT DO
Don’t live your life showing people your good feelings and ignoring the expressive action. People always remember the good things you were privileged to do which you didn’t do. The rule is: Don’t postpone the good things you need to do for people when you still have the power and privilege to do it. People will always remember the good you refuse to do to them.
“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
